Onno Jongerius

Onno Jongerius (1966) studied Biomedical Sciences, specialising in Toxicology, at the Radboud University Nijmegen in the Netherlands (1985-1991). Onno Jongerius began his career as a scientific researcher at the Department of Toxicology at Radboud University Nijmegen (1991-1992).

After his studies, Onno held various positions during his 15-year career as a senior chemical management consultant at Royal Haskoning in Nijmegen (1992-2007). During this period, Onno developed as a specialist in the field of European and (Inter) National legislation for hazardous substances and mixtures. He was responsible for developing and managing commercial software systems & specific training programmes of interest to the (European) chemical industry.

He supported companies and competent authorities with the implementation of their chemical management processes, such as classification ("classification") and labelling, safety data sheets, etcetera. Since 2006 he was project manager and responsible for REACH-related projects, such as REACH awareness workshops and the drafting of the ECHA Guidance for substance identification. He has thus become an expert in this field.

After Royal Haskoning, in the period from 2007 to 2009, Onno was business development manager and REACH expert at the ReachCentrum in Brussels. There he helped shape the approach, tools and support of REACH Consortia ReachCentrum and made an important contribution to the REACH expert consultancy and generic and company-specific training courses and workshops from Brussels.

In April 2009 Onno started his own company, Jongerius Consult. He offers strategic & practical support to companies that make, import or use chemical products to comply with European Legislation for chemicals and chemical products (including REACH & CLP) in connection with their specific business case or industry sector.
